This is an open list.
Truck-N-Paws is
a transport list, originally
started to help pets in a legitimate rescue situation (ie. not a
breeder or a seller using TNP for free transportation), especially
puppymilldogs needing to get to their forever homes.
It is now
expanded to include transport for any rescue animal, notification of
lost animals and notification of need for a home check.
THIS IS NOT
A LIST TO POST DOGS IN NEED OF
RESCUE OR TO JUST CHAT. Off Topic or post with incomplete information
especially in the SUBJECT LINE will be
rejected by the moderators.
We
are not responsible for any of the actions of any transporters on
this list.
None of the members of this list have been screened by
the owner or moderators of the list.
We highly recommend that you
get references from the transporters that respond to any request that
you post to the list.
With such a large membership, now
over 3189 members,
and growing daily, we need to stay on subject and make it easy for readers
to scan subjects to
efficiently find where they can help.
Subject lines must clearly
state city/state of origin and destination
of transport, or city/state of lost dog or home check so readers can
decide which posts to read.
Responses
to posts must go directly to
the original poster, NOT to the list.
Moderators do not always
have the time to screen each post assuring that it is a rescue situation
and not someone taking advantage of volunteer
transportation for other purposes.
ALL transport posts MUST include
the name/city/state/website or other contact information IN THE
TEXT
(not just the signature line) for the rescue responsible for the well-
being and placement of any animal looking for transport on this
list.
There are no exceptions to this.
If you
have questions or
special circumstances, please contact any of the moderators or write
to
Truck-N-Paws-owner@yahoogroups.com
We will do our best to help
you write an approvable post but the post must be written and
submitted by the coordinator of the run.
Other information necessary in
each post:
Please note: Many states require a health certificate and/or proof
of rabies when crossing a state line.
All transports need these
for
the protection of the transporter.
If you are stopped and cannot
provide this information, you can be ticketed and the dogs
confiscated.

Set up your route and break it into legs beginning from the current
location of the animal. Break the legs up into approximately 100
mile segments.
If the information is unknown, please state that and try to have the
rest of the information for the next update. The idea is to give
drivers all the information they need to determine if they can fill a
leg or not.
Many drivers
have limited space, travel with another pet
or with children.
Some of the
drivers are truckers who live in their
rig on the road, so they are actually taking the dog into their
home.
The more
information you can give, the more likely that you
will fill the legs with a minimum of trouble. If you do not know how
to break the run into legs, please contact the moderators for
information on coordinating a run.
Other posting etiquette rules:
Since ALL of the posts are regarding rescue animals, they all have a
certain degree of urgency. Please use URGENT sparingly.
Do not send
personal information of any volunteer drivers to the list when you
are trying to fill specific legs.
Please be responsible with cross-posts. If the original poster is a
TNP member, there is no need to cross-post on this list.
Cross-posts
must also be complete, so
do not forward to TNP if the above
information is not included.
You
assume a certain amount of
responsibility for anything you cross-post, so do not forward if you
know nothing about the run or the coordinator.
Transport requests need only be posted
once per day or less.
Multiple requests for transport just clutter the list since most
members are on digest. For those on individual mail, it is a
nuisance.
Updates must supply all
necessary information of the
original post.
Do not
expect readers to look up old posts for
specifics. Please remember to cut off any extra messages, if you are
on digest, when you are replying and not resend the entire digest to
the list.
Please proofread and/or spell check your posts before sending.
Database:
The database
information is accessible by any list
member. Please take the time to add your information to this list.
If you would like to change any of your information on the database,
please contact the moderators.
Remember: This list is to post announcements for transport or
home visit help needed or Transports Available.
The rules are out of
respect for the readers and efficiency for the animals that need
help.
The
moderators wish to see legitimate rescue animals get to
their safe destinations as much as you do.
Please contact
the
moderators with any questions or requests for more information or
check the "Files" section for information on how to use this list.
This is an open list run solely by
volunteers, if you write abusive threatening,
vindictive
ugly emails to the moderators of this list to other lists about this list,
you will be removed and banned.
The owners and
moderators of this list reserve the right to remove and ban any member who
they believe not to be acting in the best interests of the animals we
trying to help.
Please govern yourselves
accordingly
Thank you
